Tamara Acevedo is the Lead Instructional Superintendent for Denver Public Schools in Network 1 – NW Denver. Prior to this position, she was the principal of Carson Elementary School in Denver for five years.
As a Denver native who as a child attended Denver Public Schools, she has a strong commitment to the city and the education of its children. Tamara holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Disorders and Speech Science from the University of Colorado and a Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Denver University. She has worked in the Denver Public Schools over the past twenty years as a teacher/literacy lead teacher, Mathematics Content Specialist, Mathematics Curriculum Coordinator, assistant principal, principal and instructional superintendent. She has had diverse teaching and leadership experiences at Swansea, Bromwell, Gilpin and Carson elementary schools. Tamara’s leadership structure and philosophy is grounded in distributed leadership and professional learning.
